Acadian Ambulance Service was established in 1971 as a result of federal regulations imposed on the funeral homes to upgrade training and equipment. Since our inception, Acadian has made great strides. Today, we staff over 300 ambulances, helicopters, and fixed wing aircraft. We have nearly 3,000 employees-owners and cover service areas that stretch across Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. This is a tremendous achievement we did not envision when we began operations in Lafayette Parish with just two ambulances and eight employees. Our success was built simply by providing great customer service—treating our patients with professional medical care, compassion, and respect. And that is our mission still today. We pride ourselves on recruiting medics who are dedicated to serving our patients and communities. Our medics have access to and receive advanced training and technology through our very own National EMS Academy. We have a state-of-the-art communications center in Lafayette, Louisiana and Austin, Texas to dispatch our fleet immediately and effectively. As employee-owners and citizens of the great communities we serve, we are committed to saving lives, every day. —David A. Pierce, President |
